Exactly how the number is worked out.

Most contractors will not show you this. It is not complicated, and publishing it is the point — you can check our maths, and you can hold anyone else's quote to the same standard.

Measure the surfaces
floor area from your length and width; wall area from the perimeter and ceiling height, with 1.6 m² deducted for the door

Price the materials on that area
every tile is priced per square metre at the supplier's listed rate, not a marked-up trade rate

Add 10% wastage
cuts, breakages and the spare box you keep for repairs. Any quote without a wastage allowance is understating the material

Price the labour on the actual area
laying, not supplying. Priced separately so you can see the split

Add the fixtures at their listed prices

What people ask about the tool.

Is this a real quote?

It is a real estimate, built from real published material prices and real labour rates. It is not a fixed quote, because we have not seen your room. What it does is put you in the right range before you speak to anyone — which is more than most contractors in Dubai will give you.

Where do the prices come from?

Material prices are taken from published supplier catalogues — currently Danube Home — and shown with the date they were checked. They are advertised retail prices, not trade rates, so a real quote is often lower rather than higher.

Why is my quote from another contractor so different?

Usually because it is bundled. A single figure for 'bathroom renovation' hides the split between material and labour, and often has no wastage allowance in it. Ask any contractor to itemise and the difference becomes visible.

Can I use this and not hire you?

Yes. The tool works whether or not you ever contact us. It exists because pricing in this market is deliberately opaque, and we would rather be the company that fixed that.

Does it cover kitchens as well?

Not yet. The tool currently prices bathrooms in detail. Kitchens are more variable — joinery is made to measure — so for now the kitchen guide gives you the ranges and a site visit gives you the number.
